About Instructors
Devin Berry started his practice in 1999. His teaching is based on the principles of Buddhadharma and incorporates mindfulness practices in daily life. His training includes various programs such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher training, the Commit to Dharma Program at East Bay Meditation Center, Dedicated Practitioners Program at Spirit Rock, and Residential Retreat Teachers Program at Insight Meditation Society. Devin is a co-founder of the Teen Sangha and Men of Color Deep Refuge Group at East Bay Meditation Center in Oakland. Devin initiated mindfulness programs in San Francisco Bay Area schools two decades ago. These programs included weekly mindfulness groups for young people, and Devin also served as an advocate for marginalized youth living on the streets. Devin has experience in organizing and leading wilderness camps for teenagers, rites-of-passage programs for preteens, and a summer camp for boys. Devin played a role in the creation of Deep Time Liberation, which is a program that delves into the effects of ancestral legacy and intergenerational trauma on Black Americans. He believes in the effectiveness of witnessing and storytelling as a tool for liberation. Devin is a man who is a parent and teaches at a national level.
Tara Brach is a meditation teacher with international recognition, holds a PhD in clinical psychology, and has authored multiple books, including the popular Radical Acceptance, Radical Compassion, and Trusting the Gold. Jack Kornfield received training as a Buddhist monk in various monasteries located in Thailand, India, and Burma. Since 1974, he has taught meditation globally and is recognized as one of the primary instructors who introduced Buddhist mindfulness practice to the Western world. Jack, along with Sharon Salzberg and Joseph Goldstein, established the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts, and the Spirit Rock Center in Woodacre, California. Jack has extensive experience teaching at various academic institutions including Harvard and Stanford, providing guidance to leaders in both corporate and social change sectors, facilitating gatherings of global Buddhist teachers, and collaborating with numerous renowned educators. He has a PhD in clinical psychology and is a grandfather, husband, and activist dedicated to promoting racial equality, inclusivity, and environmental and economic justice. Konda Mason is a person who teaches mindfulness, is involved in social entrepreneurship, and advocates for climate and social justice. In 1982, she was introduced to Tibetan Buddhism and became a student of Lama Zopa. In 1996, she developed an appreciation for vipassana while collaborating with Jack Kornfield at the Vallecitos Mountain Retreat Center. Konda has been an instructor at Spirit Rock Meditation Center since 1997, initially teaching Kripalu yoga. She has served on the Mentor Leadership Team for The Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program and collaborated on creating its curriculum for Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility. Konda has completed training programs such as the East Bay Meditation Center Commit to Dharma program, the Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leaders program, and the Spirit Rock Teacher Training program. Konda is the founder and president of Jubilee Justice, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending rural racism, in addition to her spiritual pursuits. She is currently residing in Louisiana and is focused on advocating for justice in Black farming communities.
